Making of

The Dresden exhibiton was developed during a research phase between February and September, 2009.

The international teams met in Prague in February, 2009; in Wroclaw in April, 2009; and in Dresden in June, 2009.

The Dresden team did their research in archives in Dresden, visited the exhibition ‘Keine Gewalt’ (No Violence) at the Dresden City Museum and the permanent exhibition at the Forum für Zeitgeschichte in Leipzig (Forum of Contemporary History), did interviews, met with external consultants and within the team kept discussing results, theses, and, finally, the presentation of the results. Then they went on to build exhibition models; write, abridge, and rewrite texts; search for, scan, and print pictures; lay out the panels; and finally set up the exhibition in its rooms.

When the exhibition was inaugurated, many a burden fell off the shoulders of everyone involved, but work continues: daily supervision of the exhibition, guided tours, accompanying events.

We have come so far; in 2010, we will produce a publication on the exhibition.
